Writing is a wonderful thing. You can say anything through writing. Many people love to write. If you want to share your writing with others, know yourself as a writer.

Know Yourself as a Writer: Know Why You Want to Write

There are a few things you should know about yourself before you share your writing with others. What do you like to write about? What styles do you like to write? Do you like to write articles? Do you like to do research? Why do you want to write in the first place?

Once you answer these questions truthfully, you will know yourself better as a writer. Most writers like to write in several styles. Some writers like to write all areas;  from poetry, article writing, to novels. There is nothing wrong with writing in many styles and different lengths of writing. It all depends on how the writer feels when they are writing their piece.

Unless you are freelancing, write on topics you enjoy or want to learn about. Have fun with your writing. If you enjoy writing poetry, write poetry. If you have a good imagination, I highly recommend writing short stories or novels.

It is important to know what you want to get out of your writing and what you want others to get out of it. Do you like to write for fun or do you want to make a living writing? Are you writing to share your stories? Do you want to help people with your writing? Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge with others? Know why you are writing and who you are writing for.

Know Yourself as a Writer: Know Your Strengths and Weaknesses

If you are going to share your writing, know what your strengths and weaknesses are. Grammar is not my strong point. I use a grammar check on every piece of writing. I enjoy writing poetry and short stories. Many family members and friends enjoy reading them. So, I know poetry and short stories are excellent choices for me.

Before you share your writing with others, know the answers to all, or at least some of these questions. It will help you a lot in the long run. I hope you enjoyed reading Know Yourself as a writer. Have a great day.
